ENEA is the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, a public body aimed at research, technological innovation and the provision of advanced services to enterprises, public administration and citizens in the sectors of energy, the environment and sustainable economic development.

ENEA’s mission also includes the innovation of the national agro-industrial production system in order to obtain competitive food products with more sustainable and energy-efficient processes. The “made in Italy” agro-food is valued along the whole food production chain, whilst actions supporting human health and consumers’ safety are implemented.

Inside the Innovation Center Enea in Collaboration with ITA will display the 3 “hort space” that consists of a 4 m2 containment system where different species of microgreens are grown, specially selected to guarantee a correct nutritional intake for the members of the “Martian” crew, in the name of high-quality nutrition thanks to a soilless cultivation system with water recycling (hydroponic system) and without the use of pesticides and agrochemicals.
