Water conservation/climate management: experience in the field of agrotextiles and agrofilms for innovative agriculture

12 November 2023
17:00 - 19:00
Italian Pavillion

In the next twenty years agriculture will be facing complex global challenges in order to feed an estimated population of nine billion people.

We have no doubt that water will have a key role for the production of the 60% extra food estimated as necessary to feed the increased world population. On the other hand, climate change will cause more frequent and intense extreme climate events, such as droughts and floods, with a devastating impact on the food production system.

Increasing the area of arable land is not desirable, therefore agriculture will have to be more efficient, more productive, and more sustainable.

As a consequence, it is imperative that more food be produced using less water and plant protection inputs.

The Innovative agrotextiles could be a solution for better climate control and a healthier and safer food production.

The seminar will be held by Dr. Giulio SENNI, graduated in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Tuscia. He is a member of the Order of Agronomists and Foresters of Rome since 2002.
